I replaced all the original supplied angle brackets that get mounted on
top of the gearbox and replaced it with one big laser part (same
thickness and pre-hardened aluminum). This allowed me to have big access
panels to get to the gear racks and switches and to the flap mechanism.
Advantages: better access, cleans up the design significantly
Disadvantages: bonding metal-composite - during the cabin pressure test
during annual inspection (after 130 hrs now) I found some leaks where I
the composite meets the metal - I had to reseal with silicone.
