A sheet of 4'x8' FRP board from Eagle/Lowe's (probably Home Depot, etc.) for $32.00 has served as an excellent cutting and layup surface. It is about 1/16" thick plastic and is screwed to the tables with the smooth side up (this is upside down from the way it is normally used). If you don't know what FRP is, you have faced it many times as it is in many of the fast food restrooms as a wall covering.
