If you’re still building, or just want to upgrade your hydraulic system controls from 1940’s automotive parts to 21st century automotive parts, consider Tyco’s VF7 series of relays or an equivalent.  Their contacts are rated for 70 Amps, however the coils draw less than 200ma.  You’ll also save a few pounds.  Digikey has an equivalent model (Panasonic CB series) for about $5.00.

500ma contact rating for a pressure switch will never work on a solenoid operated hydraulic pump.

As Bill just indicated, 4 amps to the solenoid that runs the pump is typical.
