Either part should do just fine. Newark.com has
both.
The "battery" is not a simple "battery". this thing
is a battery, clock and battery backed static ram in a chip form factor. The
internal lithium battery is used to keep the clock running and data alive in the
static ram when the system is powered down. It's "supposed" to last for 10
years.
The system can be wired to use a standard 9V
battery to keep it alive during power down situations making the part last
"forever" so you don't have to re-initialize a new part. If anyone wants

Bill,
Try M48TO2-150PC1, instead of
M48TO2-200PC1.
The difference is just 150 ns access memory speed
versus 200 ns. The 200 ns part is going obsolete. There is
also a 70 ns part with number M48TO2-70PC1. All are OK, because the
memory just has to be "fast enough" to support the system it is in, namely
the VM1000.
