Charlie, was Bill's companion from when we got him at 10 weeks. He loved to fly and flew with Bill all the time. From talking to the guys at the airport, Bill took off but could not gain enough altitude. Since there is an elementary school at the end of the take off ramp and Bill would not have wanted to hit a school, he banked to the left and his wing dropped down. He did not have enough altitude to level out the plane. The wing hit a tree and he was full of gas. I believe he wanted Charlie to make it out, he opened the canopy and helped him out.
Charlie had some singed fur and only a couple of scrapes on him. After he was given a bath you could not even tell he was involved in such a disaster.

Yes, note that the dog (apparently unrestrained) survived. An unrestrained animal in a small cockpit like the 320 could be all it takes to lose control on takeoff or landing. Be careful out there.

LML,

Has anyone heard of this Lancair accident and fatality in Oregon?  Bill Kennedy has been a frequent participant on the LML.
