I like the idea of the Garmin 396 for backup. Have you ever had to use it?
Are your two GRT EFIS on different busses? It seems like that would make it
tough to loose them both. Thanks for sharing.

FYI, here's ours. No steam gages, but an independent Garmin 396 with PFD
for backup.
The item out of the center console is a Digiflight II.
The dual EFIS are Grand Rapids Technologies.
The two toggles by wiring guru Charlie Calivas' hand are ignition switches
for dual Lightspeed Plasma units in the mag holes.
The two toggles under the intercom are for the two Facet wing transfer
pumps, which are turned off/on by a float switch in the header when
full/empty...46 gal.
Digital clock velcroed on the panel above the intercom.
Small items over the left EFIS are the prop controls for 3-blade MT
electric, and on top of that, the ELT panel control.
Single recombinant battery,B&C alternator and backup 8 amp alternator.
Bacon Saver AOA vane on the wing.
