I just finished my HPAT initial training in my newly purchased
Legacy. The instructor taught me that I could turn on the ram air anytime I was
well clear of the ground (at least a few thousand feet). The second guideline
was based on whether I needed the additional power. For example, when starting
a descent or slowing down the first thing I do is to close the ram air.

Subject: LNC2: when to turn off the ram air
Other than during ground operations, are there any
guidelines as to when it would be best to turn OFF the ram air on a Lancair
360? This was one area that was lacking during my transition training, so
I'm trying to fill the void of knowledge.
