| Thanks to all those that replied to my request on the recapped tires. I've been the Guinna pig on a whole lot of projects that I have done in my career endeavours. Being tired (no pun intended) of being a Guinna pig in general, and, since there has not been anybody using recaps, this shows me, empirically, that recapped main tires have not been proven to be a good solution on the Legacy. I've decided not to go the route of recaps. What prompted the request is the fact that I am in partnership with my neighbor on a Russian Yak 18T. We recapped the mains on that plane because that is what the previous owner did. Apparently recapped tires have a harder rubber and wear better.
Anyway, thought I'd pass along my thoughts. In this economy maybe my thoughts are worth $0.01 verses the normal $0.02. Abe Gaskins MGM Industries Office 800-476-5584 Direct line 615-265-2046

Abe: I used Desser's tires on a number of applications including my TBM 700. I liked the concept they sold of a proven base and a thicker tread. You have to be aware that the dimensions could exceed a new tire and swing the gear to make sure. Also, I found that they sometimes don't have spares so I would send some used tires in for recapping and store them. My biggest complaint was balance. I've had tires from Desser that required big weights for balance so there are drawbacks but overall I liked the product and price. I have not put them on the Legacy.

Is there any opinions on using recapped tires on the main landing gear of a Legacy?
Good idea?
Bad idea?
