Dom,

Yeah, very esoteric explanation.  I get dizzy and grumpy without a certain blood sugar level.  In the evening (after flights), that's fixed with adult beverages.  On a long flight I carry "energy bars" - Oh, I eat them as needed in order to remain positive, but edgy with ATC.  I also find that dehydration leads to headaches and reduced, uh, sharpness.  Thus, I sip small amounts of water regularly throughout the flight.  That keeps my skin moisturized (discuss this with your wife) as most of it exits that way or through exhaled water vapor.  I find the use of O2 above 9000 feet results in my feeling just Jim Dandy at the end of a long flight.  Remember, at this later stage of life comfort is a desirable objective.

G’day Don,

Yep – youth is always a disadvantage in comparative experience exponentially expressed and vertically voluble in the fourth dimension.

As a junior, I recognise my GA/military/airline/back to GA experience doesn’t count for much since I started in 1963.

But I’ll stick with my comments – I reckon they’re right. They’re definitely prejudiced to safety.

Xin Ciao

And Happy New Year to all.

Dom.

PS. Debate is the lifeblood of the free.

Mr. Crain,

Your comments are of course your own, but I've flown GA A/C for 46 years with a considerable amount of time and flights using the "no food-- no liquids" before flights of 4 + hrs with none of the problems you related to in your post. At 80 years of age, I offer only my experience.. and with out prejudice..
