I too had the same questions as Angier when I noticed that the LE of my MKII
elevator was going to end up "fatter" than the TE of the horizontal stab.
This, in fact, seemed contrary to my preconceptions and to the
diagrams/sketches in the builder's manual.  After a somewhat frantic call
(one in a series of many for this novice) to a Lancair tech rep, I was
reassured that this was indeed correct and actually an upgrade to the
design.  This improvement apparently facilitates better "attachment" of the
airstream/slipstream to elevator (less separation).
