Marv, Et AL:
I am experimenting with making my small tail LNC3 appear to have a "virtual" larger rudder by using VGs on the Vertical Stab. I need more "no wind" conditions to further determine effectiveness. I seems that I can get rudder response at about 25 Kts instead of 40 Kts, but I need to design experiments that result in more than "it feels more responsive". Any suggestions?
Right now, the VGs are placed at an upward angle of 20 degrees to the slipstream one inch forward of the Vert Stab TE about 4-5 inches apart. This is similar to placement on a C310, however, the C310 Stab is widest at the placement of the VGs. My LNC2 Stab is relatively uniform to very slightly wider forward of the VGs. I may move the VGs forward somewhat. There is no apparent loss of speed or controlability with the VGs.
