The cable package supplied by Lancair has enough travel when the cables are straight laying on the workbench.  If they have even a gentle bend the housing gets longer and reduces the length of the cable about 3/8” too much to obtain full travel with a ¼” full forward “cushion” at the knobs.  You need that cushion to be sure the control arms are at full travel when the engine is under power loads or mounts settle.

After looking high and low for a longer rod end bearing with a 10-24 threaded end, I gave up and bought an easily located longer rod end bearing with a ¼-20 threaded end.  It was adapted with a ¼-20 bolt drilled and tapped to 10-24 for the control cable.   I screwed the bolt into the new longer rod end bearing with Loc tite stud locker, torqued it tight, cut the exposed bolt and obtained the needed extra length.  This would never fly on a certified aircraft but I feel very comfortable with it.  Just make sure the 10-24 tap is done correctly.
