Checked my flaps today and the gaps, full down, are 7/8" inboard and 3/8"
outboard.  This gap varies almost linearly from a spanwise viewpoint. These are true distances (ie from the leading edge of the flap to the
trailing edge of the upper wing skin).  In a plan view, the inboard gap
is maybe 1/8, and the outboard gap almost zero.

During building, I got the skin on one flap too far aft.  The result was
a bulge in the airfoil, relative to the island, with the flap too high. Had to cut it off and get a new skin for the factory.  When I got that
right, the flaps have about a business-card thick gap with the upper skin
when fully retracted.  I built up the top surface of the leading edges of
both flaps with foam (2 BID over) to minimize the gap through about the
first half of extension.  Lancair (probably Pat Gonsulin) had told me that gaps after about 15
degrees of extension (if I remember the number correctly - and I probably
don't) don't really matter as the air flow has separated and doesn't know
the difference.

Hopes this helps.   N425A, close to first flight.
