It will fit onto the engine mount and yes,
definitely the long one. I do not believe the short one would work.
There is so little room to work with the short one.
The cowl will need to be modified as the
engine is wider. I gave up on modifying mine as the quality of the
original is not good to start with and it was a real mess after I had hacked it
around. Length is longer but if you are modifying it for width it is easy
to do the length. I had a professional do me a new mold and produce a
cowling, top and bottom. I was so fed up with my own efforts. I still
have the molds.
I have a forward facing fuel injection unit and I
chose not to use the combustion air inlet under cowl. My bottom cowl is
therefore smooth. The air inlet/filter is in the left hand cooling air
entry, like a Piper.
The hardest job I did when building the plane was
getting that adjectival cowling to fit.
Good luck
