Bill: as background, I have used Jeppesen Flightstar for many years and still use it for planning and weather outside the US border (it is cheap). Then I added Anywheremap on a iPaq display for a couple of years (same XM feed as Wxworx) for inflight wx but because I fly home to Canada I wanted the Canadian weather too. Anywheremap promised for years but never updated their software to display the Cdn wx although it has been in the XM feed for many years now. WXworx does show international wx so I bought that software which uses the same XM receiver. I agree WXworx is cumbersome and slow but it does display a huge amount of data from fronts to public warnings and all the aviation data including TFRs, SIGMETs and AIRMETS. It is not easy as easy as Anywheremap or Chartcase to use in flight especially heavy weather mostly because of the slow updates. Chartcase is much faster but still has a challenging inflight menu. Anywheremap has the best display format but I dropped that subscription. When I got the Legacy I was given the previous owner's Motion Computing tablet and it had Chartcase already running plus WXWORX and another XM receiver. I learned Chartcase can display all the XM weather PLUS it can display the WXWORX weather as well but that slows it down somewhat. Chartcase also has the approach plates, sectionals, WACs, IFR LO/HI charts and updates everything automatically when connected to the internet. It is now my favourite tool inflight and seems reasonable for the price since I no longer carry any paper. Far cheaper than Jepps. I have two portables inflight. Chartcase, Flightstar and Anywheremap can be used on multiple PCs with the same subscription. WxWorx is tied to a specific XM receiver but can be used on any PC. But if you want to change XM receivers with Wxworx you have to change the software so it matches the unique XM receiver code. Chartcase does not care which XM receiver is feeding the data. I recently used the Chartcase/Wxworx package from Florida to Toronto VFR northbound and IFR southbound in the Legacy and it was terrific for avoiding all the weather and for pulling up the approaches as needed. The old MotionComputing tablet runs Chartcase nicely so I'm sure any modern tablet will be great. I use a portable Garmin bluetooth GPS also to provide moving map data. If I were simply using US data only I would have preferred to stay with Anywheremap because it is just point and click. But, now that I have Chartcase, I think it is superior for keeping everything updated and they have great customer service. For wx outside the US I have to go with Wxworx. I suggest you try them all if you can get trials (wxworx does that online with you). You may get a trial with the other providers also if you can get an XM receiver. They will all download on the ground with DUATs or using data from the internet if you don't have XM yet. If you have any questions let me know.

I'm running Wxworx on Wings on a Toshiba tablet but not happy with the result.
Does anyone have any experience running Chartcase as an EFB on a tablet with the Wx overlay?
Thanks, Bill Hogarty
