Rob,
Lycoming states that my O-320-D1F uses 10 gph at 75% power cruse. Your IO-360 should use at least 180 / 160 = 1.125 more or 11.25 GPH.
75% power with my engine should be 2700 by full throttle at 7,500 ft.
In real life I fly at 2350 and 23 to 25". I normally burn 6.5 to 7.0 gph at altitude.

I want to put an optial sensor in my header tank to illuminate when there is 30 minutes cruise time remaining. What's the fuel burn for an IO-360 at a normal cruise -- say 8000 ft MSL, 2500 RPM, 25 inches MP (or would it be 24/24)?
I'm thinking that it's maybe 8 gallons per hour.
