John Wright's comments about oil coolers correct except that for what ever
reason your engine does not get up to operating temp at 180 Deg., the
thermostatic valve never closes to use the oil cooler. Hence the system
stabilizes at what ever temp shy of 180, and the need for a "cooler door"
to raise temps. Impossible, you say.. My 235/320 B1B with mods. runs at
mas or menos 155 deg without door. Oh yeah, I don't have a cooler press
operated bypass valve and I run a 20/50 wt. oil. Oil viscosity figures
intothis also, with cold climates and aero shell 50 wt. what most Mfgrs
design around. dpske@teleport.COM
