Anyone got a non-soundproofed
Lancair for comparison?<

My Lancair has only a bit of sound proofing under the false rudder pedal
floor. I consider  the noise cancelling headset to be a lightest solution
to the noise elimination desires.  Effective sound insulation is heavy and
expensive.  Save the $250 of sound insulation and get a good $300 noise
cancelling headset.

Oil/Air separator<

My air/oil separator has a container to hold the oil that ends up being
separated from the air.  I drain the oil during the annual condition
inspection or sooner if necessary.  The breather tube opening from the
air/oil separator is just above the exhaust pipe.  Any oil that bypasses
the air/oil separator (maybe 1 drop per trip) that ends up in the breather
tube will drip onto the exhaust pipe and vaporize.  Result -- no oil on
bottom.  Jim Frantz
