I am in the process of negotiating the purchase of a 235 that has an IO320
engine. The plane has not been flown for several years and has the wings
removed.
1) The plane is not equipped with a heater. Can anyone shed some light on
what is needed in order to install one? I live in Tacoma, Washington and
it rarely warms up enough to fly without heat.
2) I understand that the wings are not hard to remove and reinstall. What
does it take?
3) As I understand, in an annual the only ADs that are applicable are for
those that apply to specifically to components manufactured for a certified
aircraft such as the engine. Other than that the annual is a matter of
inspection. I would be the first admit that I am slightly naive about
experimentals. Is there anyplace other than the FARs that I could refer
to? Any suggestions on who could perform an annual / pre-purchase
inspection in the Minneapolis area?
4) What can I realistically expect for performance of a 235 with the IO320
and a fixed pitch prop. The seller says it has a top speed of 260mph. Is
that realistic?
I appreciate any information that anyone could provide as well as anything
else in regard to the purchase and ownership of a 235 / 320. If anyone
might know of one that might be for sales I would greatly appreciate the
information. There aren't to many published for sale and I have decided
that it's the plane for me. I am currently in the process of selling a '74
Cessna Cardinal.
