Chris & Scott,

We have such an arrangement, long mount, small tail. Works fine for us. I have never run out of elevator authority in either direction. I am one of those who practices stalls and have never had a problem with the recovery. In the other direction, we use soft field techniques when operating off grass which we do often. We are able to get the nosewheel off the ground at about 40 kts on takeoff.

Chris,

Thanks for the explanation.  I know that there are some 360s using the long engine mount with a small tail.  I wonder if that was to correct a rearward CG issue?  Perhaps such a person could comment on how that arrangement flies.
