Looking for help in installing the sonic tubes for a  Performance Engine Conitnental TSIO 550E. Apparently the tubes we have are designed with a 1.5 inch fitting on one end and a 1.25inch fitting on the other. We would like to find 4 sonic tubes with 1.25inch fittings on each end. Barring the availabliity of those, any suggestions of how to utilize the ones we have would be greatly appreciated

Joseph,

My intercoolers did not have ports on the inlet side for the sonic nozzles, so I cut holes at the 90 degree bend and welded the sonic nozzles in place. Please note that these are directional—there is a flow direction that’s important. Orient the nozzle so the high pressure side (the intercooler) has the rapidly-constricting orifice, and the exhaust side the more gently-tapered end of the nozzle.

The welding is a job for a professional, but you can prepare the intercoolers for welding by carefully cutting a 1” diameter hole, and then flattening the area around it to make a good mating surface for the nozzle. I could send  you a picture of the general arrangement, but would need to do this over the weekend.
