On the contrary.  Car insurance rates are set based on a variety of factors, some of which have nothing to do with the safe driving record of the owner.  Some of those factors include where you live and how likely your make and model of car is to be stolen among others.  The point is the insurance companies are going to cover there losses even if we might not like the way they choose to make those calculations.  We need to figure out how to reduce those losses.
