Yes, It does take much time to finish a fiberglass
airframe. I looked at my Builder's logbook and can tell you I personally
spent over 700 hours in micro, primer, sanding, primer before I took it to the
professionals. I thought it was ready. SOOOORRRRRRY I was told.
Afterwords we logged over 250 more hours in completing the finish and
trim. I lucked out in that shop because I ony paid for 104 hours of shop
time. The poane was there for five weeks. The other 146, I was
allowed to do it in that shop. My cost was $10,000. That was in the
year 2000. That is 8 years ago my friend.
Make sure your base is smooth as glass. After
spending several years and much money, now is not the time to pinch
pennies. Whoever thought of pinching pennies while building a
Lancair?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
