Paul is correct on all points (this time ;). You do not need the door frame tape and you can drop the pressure to 10-12 PSI for non pressurized AC. The pump "blips" occur for two reasons; thermal, as the hot compressed air cools and leaks, usually in the pneumatic switch or check valve. The prime cause for the latter is dirt ingested through the pump. For this reason I installed an aquarium aeration stone as an inlet filter to the pump. It has worked well for keeping the system clean and blip free for 13 years.
