I checked the Archives on these subjects and once again I'm humbled by the depth of knowledge in this group. Thank you Marv for maintaining the list!

I'm reskinning the horizontal stab on my IV-P and as I grind out the excess flox I have a chance to observe and reflect. Things happened too fast for that at Redmond.

I notice that the ribs and spars appear to be bonded with Hysol in some areas and flox in others. Then Pacific Aero radiused the joints with micro. The same treatment is applied to the tail structure. Since this is all on the interior and wouldn't be seen I'm guessing there must be a reason for the extra time, effort, and weight involved. The same fillet was applied to the flap and aileron fittings bonded to the wing spar.

Could anyone tell me why this was done and whether I should apply micro (other than cosmetic) to any exposed joints such as on the wing skins?

On a different subject, I'm thinking about using Carbinges for the main gear doors. The primary reason is the long length of the hinge and the expansion differential between aluminum and carbon. In addition, bonding (I'd use Hysol) would eliminate a lot of hardware though I'd install screws to prevent peeling at each end. I imagine this has been done before- any service experiences?

I see some mention of using Carbinge for trim tabs- how has that worked out over time?

Thanks very much-  Bill Wade
