Chris,
What made you pick the J-7402-1? AC publishes a Lorn chart at:
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pdf/LORDMOUNTS.pdf
It looks to me like I should maybe use the Lord J-7402-16, J-7402-24 or the J-7402-37. But what about the J-7402-2, J-7402-6, J-9613-49 and J-6230-1? What is the difference in all of these mounts?
And lets not forget:
http://www.aerocraftparts.com/Categories.aspx?Category=8aa3943f-d4f8-492c-880a-260f854c383a
There are a number of Barry mounts listed here.
How did you determine which mounts to use?
I just talked to Russ at Lancair. Here is his 2¢ worth:
Barry
94150-01 for O-235
94150-40 for O-290, 320 & 360 constant Speed $59.00 each
94150-41 for O-290, 320 & 360 fixed pitch
Lord
J-7402-1 same as 94150-40 but cost $80 each
Back in 1998, 1,200 hundred hours ago on my plane, I switched to the Lord mounts based on Don Goetz thinking that they were smoother that the Barry mounts. Mine still work fine.
Now, after 10 more years of experience, Russ thinks that both are about the same.

Tom,
I use Lord J-7402-1 mounts on my 360. They are a bit softer than the Barry mounts. -runs a bit smoother, but you may need to add an extra washer to the lower mounts.
