I handled the firewall problem by machining a bunch of washers that matched
the thickness of the fiberfrax.  I "potted" all the bolts needed for
various firewall items from the cabin side and then drilled holes in the SS
to match.  Of course I used the large aircraft washers behind the engine
mount.  The end result was a very "clean" looking installation.  I do wish
I had burnished the SS though.  My 2 cents...
