The most important thing in the discussion is "uncoordinated turn".  Aside
from the possibility of fuel starving, there is the increased risk of an
inside wing stall.  If the inside wing stalls on an approach, which happens at a lower
AOA/higher speed due to the affect of the aileron, no device or procedure is
likely to be of much help, not even Jim Frantz's AOA.  The best protection is don't fly uncoordinated turns.  If you can't make the
approach any other way, go around.  Better yet, don't use cross contols at
all with the exception of lining up the plane with the runway shortly before
a cross wind landing and, of course, acrobatics.
