Mike, I'm trying to remember, do we know if anybody has had a shimmy episode when the nose wheel pant was not installed??

Bill,
From discussions among the ES builders, it's a good idea to keep the wheel
pant light. Of course the ES is a much heavier aircraft, but the nosewheel
is susceptible to shimmy. And since the IVs have the same strut and don't
appear to have the shimmy problems, we have concluded that the ES shimmy is due
to the mass of the wheel pant. I would grind out any unnecessary bulk and
reduce the overall weight.
