I sent the specs of a new Lancair spring to several spring mfgrs. Seems the secret of replacement compression springs is knowing the spring "rate". Unfortunately, I cant determine the spring rate from Lancair and I cant measure the spring when its installed in my plane because of very limited access.
You may have already tried this, but go to Century Spring:

If you know the ID and OD you know the wire diameter. If you know the wire diameter, ID, OD, length, number of coils, and material you should have determined the spring rate very closely. See if you can find it there. (It would be better to measure the wire diameter directly, if you can.)
