I sent the specs of a new Lancair spring to several spring mfgrs.  Seems the secret of replacement compression springs is knowing the spring "rate".  Unfortunately, I cant determine the spring rate from Lancair and I cant measure the spring when its installed in my plane because of very limited access.

Thats why I was hoping to find someone that hasnt installed the step yet to make some measurements for us.  BUMMER
