I flew my ES for two years without ever touching the low boost switch.  I fly routinely above 10K.  But I don't think I ever dealt with the high ambient temps that seem to cause the vapor lock situation on climbout.  After taking some HPAT training, I now use the boost pump on takeoff and when switching tanks.
