I don't think I said that the IO-550 was poorly designed. I just think that fewer parts are better. My experience with certified engines does not leave me with the same warm, fuzzy feelings as you have. I'll leave it at that. Appreciate the chance to discuss this with you guys.

There are a number of rotaries flying with good results. But you're correct, thousands of hours tends to make you more comfortable flying behind a particular engine.

My comments weren't intended to say the Mazda is not reliable. I just have
a tough time following all the logic on how the IO-550 engine is poorly
designed. You definitely have you work cut out for you in getting that
engine
installed and making sure everything is going to work well. I just ordered

engine and associated hoses and stuff and hooked it all up, pretty much a
no-brainer.
