I was reviewing my latest issue of the Lancair Network News and noticed the
SDR telling about the installation of a "3/16" depth spacer internally at
the rear of the flap actuator". As I read this the spacer would be at the
end of the cylinder without the rod. Very bad idea!! The spacer is not thick
enough to ensure that it cannot turn sideways and present it's diameter,
instead of it's thickness, to the piston!
If a spacer is used it MUST be installed in the shaft end of the cylinder to
ensure alignment.
Compliments of the season.
