Subject: [LML] Fw: VisionMicrosystems
Does anyone know what's going on with Vision Microsystems????????
Ronald Heidegger, Austria
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Had a very informative conversation with Mr. Ottis Cameron at VMS. He
painted a very clear picture and it ain't good. Vision Micro Systems is
now just a sales and marketing group located in Texas. All engineering
is done at the partent company, JP Instruments. JPI is quite busy
developing new products and selling current models, and they have
effectively withdrawn support for the older models like the VM-1000. The early VM-1000 were rather basic and fuel quantity was not designed
as an integral part: it was a custom add-on. That function requires a
EPROM to be programmed with specifics about the engine and fuel system.
There was a burner that should have been shipped to the new VMS
facility, but it is still in pieces and anyway there is no one there to
use it. The engineers at JPI do not have time to write code and program the chip
for new engine and fuel combinations. However it could be possible for
them to cut and paste from a similar setup used on another aircraft.
They just see no motivation to do so right now. The official corporate
line is that they MAY have that capability SOMEDAY. Anyone willing to
bet on that?
So it sounds like builders with a VM-1000 have an orphan with limited
use. Badgering VMS will do no good - they are powerless in this
situation. JPI does not want to be associated with it and they do not
want to field any phone calls and e-mails about it. I called JPI and
they immediately tried to get me to call Ottis in TX. Hmmmm - so if the wheel gets squeeky might it get some grease? Fellow
Lancarians, could we help brother Ronald and send a note to the JPI
folks asking for them to help him? Headline: JP Instruments abandons
owners of Vision Micro Systems!
Contacts I found were:
Kristie, Sales Manager: kristie@jpitech.com Joe Polizoto, owner and
