The paint protection film ("PPF") currently used in the automotive industry is descended from films/tapes originally developed for aerospace applications.

3M has a full line of aerospace approved tapes available in various widths. The aerospace tapes are marketed and distributed by an entirely different division within 3M than the automotive group I deal with. I will contact my sources at 3M, and Avery-Dennision, to guide you in the right direction.
