When we closed our elevator (a couple of months ago) at the factory, we applied
what seemed to be (at the time) a whole lot of hysol. We applied hysol in large
amounts on the counter balance weights and over the spars and other flat areas
forming a pyromid shape. We then set the skin on top of our freshly applied
hysol, tapped it down with our body weight, removed the skin, painted the areas
on the skin with hysol that need to be bonded, re-applied hysol and then we
installed the skin with angle iron on top of the skin with many lead shot bags
over the skin and angle iron.
We only had to install the top skin as the bottom skin was already bonded in
place by the factory.
