Now that the 2nd Annual Golden West EAA Regional Fly-In is history, I am
able to work on my project once more.
I am preparing to close my elevators and would like some helpful hints. The
manual instructs to apply Hysol to all surfaces EXCEPT the leading edge
joggle. Then after cure and some glass lay-ups on the tips and BL-3 Rib, to
go ahead and bond the leading edge. Does anyone have some tips on how to get
the Hysol on the leading edge joggle evenly and in an adequate amount for
proper closure? I am especially concerned about the area between the
outboard hinge half and the counter weight arm. Should I just bond that area
with the initial closure since it is too stiff to reshape anyway? (I am
ASSUMING that the reason for the later closure of the leading edge joggle is
to form it to the proper dimensions to fit the horizontal stab dimension.)
Thanks,
