I've been using XM weather on a laptop (WindowsXP) in my Cessna for 1.5
years...
Experience has taught me that ideally the laptop/table should be dedicated
to your airborne needs - WXWorks/Whatever (it can't also double as a remote
email checker, networked Duats access, etc), and you'll want to spend some
time/energy disabling everything possible that Windows thinks it wants to do
for itself - ie. all virus scanning, hard disk defragmenting, Windows update
service messages, etc.
It's a REAL pain in flight when it wants to act up (you know windows -
thanks again BillG). Waiting, Clicking, and/or Rebooting is a ROYAL pain in
flight.
