Experience has taught me that ideally the laptop/table should be dedicated to your airborne needs - WXWorks/Whatever (it can't also double as a remote email checker, networked Duats access, etc), and you'll want to spend some time/energy disabling everything possible that Windows thinks it wants to do for itself - ie. all virus scanning, hard disk defragmenting, Windows update service messages, etc. It's a REAL pain in flight when it wants to act up (you know windows - thanks again BillG). Waiting, Clicking, and/or Rebooting is a ROYAL pain in flight. My .02
