The information I was given was that the requirements you listed were so
that Lancair could try to reduce the cost of insurance to builders/flyers.
My understanding is that new builders are not "required" to do anything vis
a vis insurance. They must, however, comply with the specifications Lancair
worked out with its insurance underwriter IF they want to participate in
this specific insurance program. Further, my insurance (for a IVP) already
requires that I had a factory-authorized person check out my airplane for
airworthiness and that I receive an annual recurrency/checkride from a
Lancair-designated person. This had been the case with my insurance broker
and carrier for three years. As to being "stonewalled", I know nothing about
that, but it does seem possible that since the Lancair CEO/pro-active
insurance coverage negotiator is a part time New Orleans resident and
businessman/lawyer his attention may have been distracted for the time
being.
