I second the opinion of many others that have commented.  One of the most satisfying, amazing, rewarding days of my life, 47 years now, was the day my Lancair first flew.  My years as a pilot have been a very positive experience.  I recall the first time I heard of a fatal crash of someone that I knew, shook me up pretty good.  I will say, that you never get used to it, but you learn from other's mistakes, and keep flying, albeit, with a healthy respect for what we do.
