Thunderstorms = Lightning … NOT
SEPARABLE … in fact the lightning comes first. Can’t have one
without the other. Never fly near thunderstorms!
A little more sensitivity is in order
here in the way we speak to others. I see what was said and can understand
about the statement Lancairs are tough … but they should never be flown
if you can even see lightning. So the opportunity to “test” the
toughness should never be a part of our lives. I will say, however, that center
flew me into a lightning storm in New
Mexico once for which I am still pissed. But they don’t
care what they fly you into … they’re there to separate you from
traffic and lightning isn’t traffic … look out the windscreen. If
you see dark clouds in your path, lightning … don’t go there to
test anything! It will not be a subject we are subjected to on the LML. Sorry
to be so terse.
