Thunderstorms = Lightning … NOT SEPARABLE … in fact the lightning comes first. Can’t have one without the other. Never fly near thunderstorms!

 

A little more sensitivity is in order here in the way we speak to others. I see what was said and can understand about the statement Lancairs are tough … but they should never be flown if you can even see lightning. So the opportunity to “test” the toughness should never be a part of our lives. I will say, however, that center flew me into a lightning storm in New Mexico once for which I am still pissed. But they don’t care what they fly you into … they’re there to separate you from traffic and lightning isn’t traffic … look out the windscreen. If you see dark clouds in your path, lightning … don’t go there to test anything! It will not be a subject we are subjected to on the LML. Sorry to be so terse.
