I'm using a Toshiba tablet (M200) and have been using WxWorx for about 13
months. The product can be absolutely fantastic, giving me airborne weather
that has really helped me to plan flights, avoid weather, and cancel
flights.
Problems:
1. Had numerous problems with the first receiver they sent me. Would drop
off-line and take HOURS on the phone with XM to get back on line. During
that time I had to be at the plane, because my receiver is mounted in my
plane. Half the time I wouldn't know that it didn't work until after I had
taken off. Eventually WxWorx replaced the receiver (about 5 months ago) and
I haven't had the problem since.
2. GPS problems "connecting". I use an old Teletype PCMCIA GPS. I like it
because it eliminates any GPS cords (power or connection to the pc) and is
small and lightweight. I don't know if this problem is related to the GPS,
the PC or WxWorx. It has been an erratic problem. That said, I have just
flown 6 flights in the last 8 days, and have had NO problems with the GPS.
I started using a product called Franson GPSGate that supposedly helps
programs "find" the GPS... I just hope it keeps working.
3. The tablet PC screen just doesn't cut it unless I squint and tilt the
screen to just the right angle. Sunlight just washes it out. I'll be
shopping for a new tablet VERY soon (and would love to hear
recommendations). I need a real PC though, because I use it for work on the
road (and for checking the LML - I'm using it on the road in Memphis now).

Anyone else out there with similar packages? Sure would be nice to get a
discussion going on common problems.
