The product can be absolutely fantastic, giving me airborne weather that has really helped me to plan flights, avoid weather, and cancel flights. Problems: 1. Had numerous problems with the first receiver they sent me. Would drop off-line and take HOURS on the phone with XM to get back on line. During that time I had to be at the plane, because my receiver is mounted in my plane. Half the time I wouldn't know that it didn't work until after I had taken off. Eventually WxWorx replaced the receiver (about 5 months ago) and I haven't had the problem since. 2. GPS problems "connecting". I use an old Teletype PCMCIA GPS. I like it because it eliminates any GPS cords (power or connection to the pc) and is small and lightweight. I don't know if this problem is related to the GPS, the PC or WxWorx. It has been an erratic problem. That said, I have just flown 6 flights in the last 8 days, and have had NO problems with the GPS. I started using a product called Franson GPSGate that supposedly helps programs "find" the GPS... I just hope it keeps working. 3. The tablet PC screen just doesn't cut it unless I squint and tilt the screen to just the right angle. Sunlight just washes it out. I'll be shopping for a new tablet VERY soon (and would love to hear recommendations). I need a real PC though, because I use it for work on the road (and for checking the LML - I'm using it on the road in Memphis now). Sure would be nice to get a discussion going on common problems.
