Chris, you can check out American Engine at Americanengine.com.  If you are
going to OSH you can see them at Booth 459 North Aircraft Display.  I and
several other LIV builders are building our planes to accommodate their
liquid cooled V8 which was designed specifically for aircraft application. This engine is not car engine converted for aircraft use.  It is 540 cu in,
twin turbocharged, weighing in at 679 lbs with one alternator, excluding
the radiator which is installed under the belly ala P51 style.  It utilizes
a new dual electronic ignition/injection system with dual injectors and
sensors.  The engine is easily capable of 650 hp, however will be derated
to 500hp max for the LIV installation.  Max RPM will be around 3800 with
very little boost.  Cruise should be around 3300 rpm with the prop turning
a slow 1860 rpm through a very strong helical gearbox with a torsional
vibration coupler.  The install kit includes a new engine mount, cowling,
and underbelly nacelle for the radiator.  Testing will be done with a new
design winglet by Curt Longo, as well as aft body strakes.  Lancair
builder, Rick Van Grouw, was hoping he could fly his plane to OSH with the
new engine, but not enough time for this year.  Next year should have
several in the Great Cross Country Race.  Marshall Michaelian (77% LIV-P, Eagle 540 V8)
