I fly a GlaStar - glass fuselage with Al wings and tail. $150k hull is
$2,100. It ain't the glass, it's the speed and the safety history. I can
fly my GlaStar on final at 55 kt, or even at 45 kt full stall all the way to
the runway at a controllable 650 fpm descent to a power-up at flare. With my
ES-P I expect to double those speeds, and with that speed comes damage risk.
The big ES wing gives us t/o or land roll at 50% that of the IV-P. Yes we
should get a better rate and availability than the IV's. The quote I got for
$350k hull is less than $6k.
