I looked up the data compiled and posted on the LML list a while back.
There were only three ES accidents, accounting for 3% of the total
Lancair accidents. So, I wouldn't think it qualifies under #1 above.
As for #2, while it is a bit subjective, I don't think the ES's numbers
support that conclusion either. One of the reasons I picked the ES is
because I felt it would be more insurable than the faster models. It's
a shame to be denied insurance because of the material its made from. I
wonder, are the Diamond and Cirrus insurable? How about the RV-10,
which is part glass.
