We all
know how to make an emergency landing. We wouldn't have our ticket if we
didn't know.
Not exactly true. Lots of pilots taking commercial checkrides cannot
execute an engine out emergency procedure correctly. I have pink slipped many
folks-- private pilot and above for failure to fly the airplane, select a field,
fly to the field, set up their approach, follow a checklist, use a checklist,
make the field, touchdown within 200 feet of their aimpoint, etc. Why-- they
were never properly trained to do it and their instructor probably couldn't do
it either.
Fly the way you train -- train the way you fly.
