A little over two years ago I built up a 3 blade prop for my IV-P using CNC machined
blades and a standard McCauley hub (Lycoming TIO-540 bolt pattern). Flight tests
showed that this prop had virtually identical performance to my MT 4 blade. I was
bummed, all that work for nothing :'(

I did perform a vibration survey at Specialized Testing and flew the prop for over
100 hours until I realized that changing the prop voided the airworthyness of my
plane because it was a "major modification" so I put the MT back on. My alternative
would have been to fly another 25 hours of testing.

Here is the problem. I have just moved to Idaho and the prop got left in Davis
California. I need to either freight it up here or find someone who wants to trade a
little green for it. The hub was yellow tagged and the internals (bearings, seals
etc.) are new. You could easily trade this hub for one with a Continental bolt
pattern. I also have a spare governor and a spinner.

I used a McCauley hub instead of a Hartzel because I believe it is better designed,
after all the McCauley is the one that MT cloned for their MT3 propellers ;)

One thing I did learn in this is that the mystique surrounding variable pitch props
is undeserved. The internal mechanisms are easily understood by your average home
builder.

If anyone is interested in this prop (shameless commercialism) please contact me via
private E mail.
Thanks!
